The monsoons are in full swing, which is a good thing if you enjoy rain. Do not let the grey clouds in the sky cloud your sense of fashion. You are entitled to look chic and stylish, irrespective of what the weather entails. Do not allow a little drizzle or heavy showers to give you a run for your money and spoil the fun. Here are a few fashion tips to make you stand out on a rainy day:

Embrace ‘Bright’ and ‘Light’

If you hope to get noticed in the hazy weather, wearing something bright and colorful is your best bet. Neon colors would work really well, especially while you walk on the streets. Drivers will easily see you, and you won’t suffer any auto accident injuries. If you are a fan of printed shirts, this is the time to flaunt them. Bold text and vibrant illustrations will turn heads and earn you positive feedback. Wear light and natural fabrics to avoid stuffiness caused by the humidity. Cotton tees will allow your skin to breathe and keep you cool throughout the day.

Swap Denim with Chinos

Denim is among the least water resistant fabrics and it takes ample time to dry off. You do not want to feel damp all day and stink. Replace your favorite pair of jeans with Chinos while the monsoons last. They are a lot more comfortable for the wet season, given that they are lightweight and dry out fast.

Work with a Layered Look

A layered look is perfect for monsoons, as you can lose the upper ones when you go indoors. A cotton, rayon, or chambray jacket over a plain cotton shirt works well. You can also wear a thin fleece hoody, especially if you are worried about a bad hair day. For a formal occasion, you can go with a buttoned up crisp cotton shirt and fancy west, paired with a nice pair of pants.

Go Water Proof

One can go one-step further and invest in a dandy waterproof jacket. It will not only prevent you from soaking wet, but also enhance your overall style. A waterproof wristwatch is ideal to accessorize your look and never lose track of time. Waterproof boots are also recommended if you are going to spend most of your time outdoors.

Rubber soles and Sandals

Rubber soles are water friendly, so you have an excuse to wear your comfy slippers everywhere. Avoid closed and compact shoes, as dampness shall make your feet uneasy. Sandals are the perfect footwear for the monsoons, as they keep the feet buckled and ventilated.

Dress Casual

Light shades of cotton clothes are the epitome of rainy season. You should keep your dressing casual, unless you are attending a very high profile event. Monsoon’s laid-back fashion allows you to enjoy nature’s showers to the fullest and not worry about a drenched outfit.

The Shorter, the Better

The rain tends to flood the streets and form puddles, so one can expect to be ankle deep in water when outside. Full-length pants are not idyllic for the season, but shorts are quite practical. The pouring rain is the perfect excuse to relax in your Baggies, Nickers, Bermuda, Cargo shorts, and Board shorts any day of the week.
